We believe in using diagnostic X-rays thoughtfully and only when necessary to support your child’s oral health. Here’s how we approach digital X-rays at different stages:

Ages 0–3

Ages 4–6

We typically take:

2 occlusal images (to view developing front teeth)
2 bitewings (to check for early cavities between back teeth)

These are usually done once a year—unless your child is at higher risk for cavities.

Ages 7–12

With permanent teeth coming in, we may take:

Annual bitewing X-rays
Periapical images as needed
A panoramic X-ray around age 8–9 to evaluate growth, spacing, and future orthodontic needs
